PressieMe – An App that Supports Shop Local

A Louth based tech company Jascom Ltd has launched a unique Gifting App – PressieMe aimed at supporting local retailers, shoppers and their shopping experience.  Using Dundalk as its pilot and supported by Dundalk BIDS, CEO Jason McGee describes the problem that PressieMe solves “I would always struggle to remember gift suggestions from my wife, I would see something and then when the time came, I would have forgotten where it was and worse again what it was! With PressieMe, I now get sent a gift suggestion with a photo, the category like this is for Anniversary, Birthday, Christmas and even a map route to the local shop where I can call in and buy it”.  The app acts like a combined Mobile Reminder and a Digital Wallet where all these suggestions are held in one place that can easily retrieved when the time to buy comes around.

How does PressieMe support small businesses?

Anyone can download the app for free and take a photo of something they would like in their local shop. The location of the gift is added to the photo on a map which they can then send as a gift suggestion to friends or family. This encourages footfall back into the local shop instead of shopping online as the buyer knows exactly where to get it locally – just follow the map.

Local retailers can sign up for free and start engaging and sending promos to their followers. PressieMe gives retailers an online presence, allows them to compete with online shopping but gives that personalised feel to the whole experience.  Retailers can create promotions that are focused on their customers and their stock, sending notifications directly to their phones every day.
